Save Brian Roberts
B-Rob

It is unfortunate that Brian Roberts' name is being thrown around with the other hard-core steroid users implicated in the Mitchell Report so I am doing my part to help educate those who see nothing more than a name in a list. You will see, in the excerpt below, that the case made against Roberts is weak at best and is nothing more than hear-say. I won't speak to his guilt or innocence, as only he knows the truth, but as a Roberts fan I think it's important to make sure people read what was presented before casting judgement. Plus he's my keeper at second base in my fantasy league...I can't afford to lose him.

Update (12/18): Roberts has admitted to using steroids once. Way to own up and set the record straight.

Brian Roberts is an infielder who has played for the Baltimore Orioles since 2001. He has been selected to two All-Star Teams.
Roberts and Larry Bigbie were both rookies in 2001. According to Bigbie, both he and Roberts lived in Sequi's house in the Baltimore area during the latter part of that season. When Bigbie and Segui used steroids in the house, Roberts did not participate.
According to Bigbie, however, in 2004 Roberts admitted to him that he had injected himself once or twice with steroids in 2003. Until this admission, Bigbie had never suspected Roberts of using steroids.
In order to provide Roberts with information about these allegations and to give him an opportunity to respond, I asked him to meet with me; he declined.

Message: I never noticed this site before but good for you for standing up for someone you believe in. As things stand now, I dont think he needs saving. Hes doing just fine. He handled a bad situation about as well as he could have and seems to have learned from the whole experience. The majority of people who know of him will continue to respect him for the overall person he is and not dwell on one single mistake.

Message: Brian Roberts is a very good player. Many people look up to him as not just a player, but a person they take alot from. If he makes a mistake, he is up front and apologizes for it. Not many people can say they have done that. Brian Roberts deserves a second chance. Bar none.
